Counselor in Training (CIT)

NEW! Calling all youth +15! We have a new leadership camp!

Counselor in Training will launch this July and we can’t wait to get started! The CIT program is a new leadership camp aimed at teaching our young leaders about the power of christian leadership in a camping ministry context. Camp is a formative experience for young people, and we believe camp is the perfect place for youth to work toward growing their leadership abilities.

CIT is designed to be completed by youth who are considering applying to work at a summer camp in the future, and would like to learn more about what that experience will entail.  Participants will take part in a one week local mission trip, and gain hands-on camp experience in the camper cabins! As they learn the ropes of what it means to work at camp, CIT’s will also take part in the daily care and up-keep of the camp; from cooking and cleaning, to helping maintain the grounds. CIT’s will walk away with a certification indicating they’ve completed the program, and a letter of reference from their CIT Director.

Counselor In Training (CIT) Quick Facts:

  • This program is for teenagers between the 15 and 18.
  • Completing LIT is recommended before CIT, but is not a requirement.
  • This program will spend one week serving in a local New Brunswick community for a Missions Camp.
  • CIT will engage leaders in training exercises that will help prepare them to work with children in a ministry setting.

What’s the difference between LIT and CIT? We’re glad you asked!

LIT and CIT are both leadership camps, aimed at creating experiences for our youth that will grow and challenge their leadership experience. LIT exists for youth (ages 14-16) who are looking to learn more about their faith, mentorship, and what it means to be a team leader in their schools, churches, sports teams, communities etc. LIT’s will have an opportunity to take leadership in the planning and organizing of our Camp on the Road program, and be invited back for an opportunity to participate in the Missions Camp.

CIT is designed for mature youth leaders (ages 15-18) who are interested specifically in camping and children’s ministry. This program will offer them opportunities to participate in staff training workshops, work hands on with campers in the cabins and sessions, and participate in the everyday functions of the camp. It is recommended that campers complete LIT before CIT.

CIT 2019 Dates:

July 21st – August 9th

*Participants go home one the weekends.

Still haven’t had enough of camp? CIT’s can come back as a camper during Night Owl week!
